WASHINGTON CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS ANNOUNCES 2021-2022 SEASON
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(OLYMPIA, WA, August 6, 2021) The Washington Center is excited to announce a new season with audiences at full capacity for the first time since March 2020. This diverse season showcases exceptional artistry along with stories of humanity through the lens of performing arts. The season includes several performances which were impacted by the pandemic and have been rescheduled, as well as brand new performances.
The opportunities kick off with world-renowned series National Geographic Live: Mireya Mayor, holiday shows including acoustic performers from the multi-platinum selling album Windham Hill’s Winter Solstice, an evening with GRAMMY award-winning singer Judy Collins, American humorist David Sedaris, and our beloved series Comedy Underground, Black Box Jazz, and historic silent film series accompanied by the Andy Crow Wurlitzer Organ.
Executive Director Jill Barnes shares, “We’re announcing our full season today, and tickets will go on-sale in waves.” Patrons can purchase tickets by calling the Box Office at (360) 753-8586, in person at the Box Office, or online at www.washingtoncenter.org. “We are currently building back our staff in the box office and our marketing department,” says Barnes. “Selling tickets in waves is the best way to navigate internally at this time and to provide the best customer service possible to our patrons. We continue to ask for patience and understanding.”
FRIENDS of the Center and subscribers from the 19-20 season will have early access to purchase tickets as they go on sale. Additional performances may be added as artists establish touring schedules following the pandemic. Barnes shares, “There’s a lot of moving parts in our industry at this time,” says Barnes, “and the Washington Center is ready to adapt and bring opportunities to the region as possible.”
The reopening of the Center at full capacity is a true testament to the emotional power of the arts. As part of the Washington Center’s Capital Campaign announced in July, patrons will have the opportunity to experience a brand new state-of-the-art lighting system, complementing the updates of all of our backstage equipment including audio, video, rigging, and curtains.
