We all have a public and a private persona. Concealing what we are not proud of from public scrutiny is part of our social being. We offer up the perfect “selfie,” slick public iconography, and use platforms from which to present ourselves. We plaster over the awkward and the graceless to hypnotize and delight. Charters’ paintings offer a playful poke at this issue.
