Timberland Reads Together Presents Author Tommy Orange
Tommy Orange is the author of the New York Times bestselling novel There There, a multigenerational, relentlessly paced story about a side of America few of us have ever seen: the lives of urban Native Americans. Orange is a recent graduate from the MFA program at the Institute of American Indian Arts. He is a 2014 MacDowell Fellow, and a 2016 Writing by Writers Fellow. He is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma. He was born and raised in Oakland, California, and currently lives in Angel’s Camp, California.
Moderator: Dawn Pichón Barron is a writer, educator, & advocate for human & civil rights. Currently, she is Director of the Native Pathways Program for Indigenous Scholarship at The Evergreen State College. Her work has been or is forthcoming in Yellow Medicine Review, Pittsburgh Poetry Review, WA 129 Poetry Anthology (Sage Press, 2017), Barrelhouse “ALPHA” blog, Pontoon, “Of A Monstrous Child” (Lost Horse Press, 2011), & the chapbook, “ESCAPE GIRL BLUES” (Finishing Line Press, January 2018).
