In the Dark

Buy Tickets

On Halloween weekend, listen to the terrifying music of George Frederick Haas in total pitch-black darkness. This daring evening offers a
rarely-performed work in an immersive sensory experience.

THE TUNES

Haas “in iij Noct.” (In the Dark)

* Note that this entire show is performed in complete darkness and may be audibly intense. Listeners with heart conditions or other health concerns should be advised.

THE STORY

On the heels of Halloween weekend, immerse yourself in a transcendental musical experience: Georg Friedrich Haas’s “In iij. Noct” for string quartet. With the absence of light as the focus, this hour long string quartet is performed completely in the dark as four musicians surround the audience from the corners of the venue. This, Haas’s third quartet of such nature, is composed as a verbal score, with many details and decisions left to the performers. No single performance of this work is the same; the musicians throughout the piece will decide (by communicating in complete pitch-black darkness) how far they wish to go down each musical path together before turning back.

THE ARTISTS
