All patrons will be contacted to discuss ticket options.
The Olympia Symphony’s 2019-2020 Season: “Vision: Through the Lens of Music”
Two Classical-period masterpieces are featured on the OSO’s March concert, titled “From Teacher to Pupil” — Haydn’s final symphony and Beethoven’s last concerto. Beethoven traveled from his native Bonn to Vienna in the hope of studying with Mozart; alas, Mozart died while en route and Beethoven then learned so much about form and theme from “Old Papa Haydn.” New York pianist and audience favorite, Angie Zhang, returns to the WCPA stage to perform Beethoven’s majestic Emperor Concerto with her “orchestra away from home.” Haydn’s London Symphony shows this most important composer at the height of his mastery, and is why he was dubbed “The Father of the Symphony”!
Program:
HAYDN: Symphony No. 104 “London”
BEETHOVEN: Piano Concerto No. 5 “Emperor” (Angie Zhang, piano)
Huw Edwards, Music Director and Conductor
Guest Artist sponsored by Tim & Kim Martin and Amgen Foundation
