The Olympia Symphony’s 2019-2020 Season: “Vision: Through the Lens of Music”

2020 marks the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, so the OSO will be playing a piece by Beethoven on every concert during the year. Arguably his most recognizable and most-quoted work is the revolutionary Fifth Symphony — its catchy motto is woven into the fabric of all four movements of this combustive Symphony. The OSO is thrilled to have Kristin Lee as soloist for this program and, like Beethoven’s Fifth, the shadows of war can be felt in Samuel Barber’s lyrical and passionate Violin Concerto. The rich and melodic Tragic Overture by Brahms opens this “season finale” concert.

Program:

BRAHMS: Tragic Overture

BARBER: Violin Concerto (Kristin Lee, violin)

BEETHOVEN: Symphony No. 5

Huw Edwards, Music Director and Conductor

Guest Artist sponsored by R.L. Ray Violin Shop
