SPSC Orchestra presents Romantic Favorites

The South Puget Sound College Orchestra presents its second concert of the 2017-2018 Season. The March concert presents four of the best known works from the orchestral genre. Rossini’s Overture from the opera William Tell contains what was used for theme music for the radio and early TV series The Lone Ranger. Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A Minor, featuring local Olympia pianist Jennifer Hermann, set the standard for the romantic era concerto. Franz Liszt’s symphonic poem Les Preludes enjoys great popularity among concert goers is without a doubt the most popular of Liszt’s works. The concert will close with two excerpts from Igor Stravinsky’s ballet Firebird.
