Washington Center to Reopen on November 4 following Summer Renovation

The Washington Center for the Performing Arts is finishing an $8.8 million capital campaign and renovation. The campaign helped overhaul the many components that are at the heart of every theater and has touched every aspect of the Center’s interior. The Center’s rigging, sound, and lighting systems were all upgraded. This summer’s renovation included 1,000 new seats, new carpet, wall treatments, signage, concessions remodel and interior design improvements.

There will be a public Reopening Celebration on Sunday, Nov 13 from Noon – 4. Everyone is invited to come to this event and tour the new space! Executive Director, Jill Barnes says “The theatrical upgrades and interior renovations are the product of a lot of care and commitment from many stakeholders. The effort took several years in the making and includes support from donors, local arts organizations, patrons, and our downtown neighbors and municipalities.”

The renovations are being completed right on time for the 22/23 season to begin. Chris Perondi’s Stunt Dogs Experience on November 4 will be the first performance after the renovation. Audience members are in for a treat as they will get to enjoy the amazing feats by the dogs as well as the beautifully redone interior of the Washington Center.

“The new interior has a fresh and contemporary aesthetic,” says Barnes, “with materials that complement the existing structure of the lobby and theatrical house.”  We invite new and longtime guests to join us for a building tour to reacquaint them with their performing arts center. There’s been a lot of energy behind these upgrades and we can’t wait to peek behind the curtain at our Reopening Celebration and showcase them throughout the performing arts season.
